About the Nuture Course
The Nurture Group at Flourish Art School is a carefully curated, artist-led art course drawing on many expert art sources and the artists’ own experience to nurture beginners and improvers who are all fellow emerging artists. Everyone begins by following a carefully designed course of making small copies from famous artworks. This may be a small corner of a lovely Van Gogh, Monet, Gauguin, Matisse. You choose a painting that appeals to you and you choose the section of it you feel you could try to copy. You use masking tape to section off a small area of the painting. The oil pastels we all use are a perfect match for all the colours in the carefully chosen artworks to copy. In this way you control the pace you learn at and the works you learn from. No two people are doing the same pieces so there can be no comparison!!
This traditional way of learning by adopting the vision of another artist helps beginners and improvers to progress onto their own works with skills and confidence. All the great artists learned by copying their heroes. We have a huge selection of works in the Inspiration Folder for you to be inspired and excited by!
